David + Allyn

This wedding has my whole heart. I absolutely adore shooting same sex marriages because I think there is something so genuine about their want and need to marry and have their friends and families witness their love. There is no societal pressure or any anxiety to marry by a certain age. There is just love and the need to express it. It really brings me back to the true meaning of weddings and why we have them. David and Allyn are also two of the sweetest men I’ve ever met and their love just makes you happy. HuffPost Weddings picked up on this and featured them in 25 Real Weddings that Will Brighten Up Your Day here {they’re #8, my lucky number!).

They met and fell in love TWENTY FOUR YEARS ago through a phone hotline {the OG Tinder if you will}. These two have already adventured together, already seen each other through the good, the bad, the ugly and already endured through sickness and health together. Their love is lived in and their wedding was more a celebration of the marriage they’ve already shared.

They hand picked every wedding detail. From the bee emblem on their matching Gucci shoes to honor Allyn’s mom to the retro viewfinder Save The Dave with photos of them to the fabric for the bridesmaids skirts that they found in Italy. You may have even seen a sneak peek of these items on Brooke Keegan’s BRIDES Instagram takeover that she did back in September.

Everything came together and was perfectly executed by Artisan Events at Colony 29 on a gorgeous Palm Springs Day. David + Allyn got ready together with their dog and then we all ventured out to the desert for the grooms people/party photos at the Palm Springs visitor center.

David + Allyn’s ceremony was also super unique thanks to the 12 ft chapel facade that marked the entrance, spiraled aisle walkway so that their guests circled a center pedestal where they were married and of course the Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus that sang “Going to the Chapel” as David + Allyn danced in.

Their vows were emotional and everyone was tearing up. I got chills as the men performed and David + Allyn expressed their love for one another. Once the ceremony ended, the party began on the lawn under the cafe bistro lights and desert starry sky. The Mariachi Divas gave an incredible performance that started the evening and the party did not stop until the wee hours of the night.

Thank you so much David + Allyn for including me in such an inspiring day that gave me so much renewed joy in what I am blessed to do. #LOVEWINS
